Bodegas An Negra

AN/2

WINE 31

SPICY & SOFT

Bodegas An Negra simply encapsulates the taste of Mallorca when, with AN / 2, they transform unknown, local grape varieties into wines with huge international potential. Here is the taste of red berries and steak spices, and it is good taste in that dangerous way, where you suddenly suspect the bottle of having a hole in the bottom. The new vintage 2020 is nothing short of an absolutely terrific wine. Spicy, soft and elegant with shades of wild raspberries, dark cherries, violets and hot herbs.

ABOUT THE WINERY

BODEGAS AN NEGRA

Mallorca is associated by most with charter holidays, parties and happy days. Few people on the island can make wine - even of extremely high quality -. One of the best producers is Bodegas Ànima Negra, which has proven that Mallorca wine is something very special if the right people set out to work with ancient, local grape varieties and take it seriously. Callet, Mantonegro, Fogoneu and Premsal are the varieties among others. They are grown with great respect for the soil and the surrounding nature and with a great desire to create wines with personality and local distinctiveness.

Today, Ànima Negra, which means "black soul", is headquartered in the historic country house of Son Burguera in the south-east of Mallorca and is considered one of Spain's most recognized producers.

General grape descriptions

Syrah

It is a caste originating in France but it’s produced in all over the world. It is cultivated from France to Australia (where it is the main grape), United States (Washington State and California), besides Italy (cultivated in small scale all over the country to produce some good blends), Spain (used in projects in Rioja for example), Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Uruguay, Brazil (restricted to some producers and in the northeast) In Portugal it found is home in the region of Alentejo and is the most successful foreign grape  in terms of climatic adaptation. The wines have an intense colour. The aromas are complex with very rich tannins. The most present flavours are blueberry, plum, chocolate, tobacco and black pepper but have some differences depending on the region in which they are produced,  more fruity in the warmer regions or with more spicy flavours to plum, olive and green pepper in cooler climes.
