Bourgogne Blanc

WINE 65

CLASSIC BOURGOGNE BLANC

Young plot planted in 2012, the generous Chardonnay grape variety offers us complexity and a beautiful richness in the mouth.

Aging takes place for 10 months in barrels, while malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine then gains in fat and receives a "toasted" aspect of the wood which enhances it even more.

KLASSISK BOURGOGNE BLANC

ABOUT THE WINERY

Francois Confuron-Gindre

Domaine Confuron-Gindre was established six generations ago in Vosne-Romanée and is located on Rue de La Tâche. A great sign!

Though they don't own the Monopole of La Tâche (Romanée-Conti does), François Confuron-Gindre owns a myriad of ideally located vineyards in Vosne-Romanée alongside a smattering in Nuits-St-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. The Domaine accounts for 11 hectares, including five Village wines across the aforementioned appellations; four Premier Crus in Vosne-Romanée; and one Grand Cru from Échezeaux. A blessing, considering Vosne-Romanée is the holy grail for Pinot Noir lovers. The Domaine has been under the radar for quite some time, but since Edouard, Francois's son, is gradually taking over, the word is out!

General grape descriptions

Chardonnay

Wine drinkers find it flatteringly easy to enjoy, with its broad, exuberant charms, relatively high alcohol and low acidity, and lack of powerful scent. Vine growers find it easy to grow productively and profitably (it can yield well, ripen usefully early, although buds rather too early for frost-free comfort in cool climates). And winemakers revel in the range of different winemaking techniques to which Chardonnay readily submits: not just a wide range of dry white wines with more weight than most, but delicate sparkling wines and even a few extremely successful sweet white wines made with the benefit of 'noble rot'.
