Chassagne-Montrachet

WINE 74

FRESH & RICH

A broad and full-bodied wine with the vintage's slightly lush character. Citrus, fennel and traces of anise are complemented by tangerine, peach, pineapple and balancing acidity with a slightly salty, mineral note. Slight barrel tone that integrates with age.Oak casks are almost always used for aging, but lightly toasted, and new casks are used very sparingly, as the cask must support the wine, not dominate it.Chassagne-Montrachet the southernmost of the three famous white wine communes Chassagne-M., Puligny-M. and Meursault. The surname of Chassagne, as the municipality was just called in the past, is due to the three Grand Crus. Eleven communes in the Côte d'Or used in the latter half of the 19th century the right to add their star mark(s) to their name.

FRISK & FYLDIG

ABOUT THE WINERY

JANOTSBOS

The winery was founded in 2005 by Thierry Janots (1961), French, and Richard Bos (1967), Dutch. Two excellent winemakers with a passion for wines from the Côte d'Or, Bourgogne. In their winery in Meursault they make wines of the highest quality, brilliantly expressing the famous Burgundy terroir. They avoid additives and superfluous manipulations. They have known each other since they met in 1996 at the wine school, the Lyceé Viticole, in Beaune. Thierry has worked for numerous famous wineries, like Joseph Drouhin, Louis Latour and Domaine des Comtes Lafon. Richard worked in the Netherlands in gastronomy. Almost ten years after his education in Beaune, he followed his heart and went back to Burgundy. In 2005 they decided to join forces and founded JanotsBos.

Richard arbejdede i Holland inden for gastronomi.

General grape descriptions

Chardonnay

Wine drinkers find it flatteringly easy to enjoy, with its broad, exuberant charms, relatively high alcohol and low acidity, and lack of powerful scent. Vine growers find it easy to grow productively and profitably (it can yield well, ripen usefully early, although buds rather too early for frost-free comfort in cool climates). And winemakers revel in the range of different winemaking techniques to which Chardonnay readily submits: not just a wide range of dry white wines with more weight than most, but delicate sparkling wines and even a few extremely successful sweet white wines made with the benefit of 'noble rot'.
