Château Marjosse

WINE 21

FULL & ROUND

Once in a while you can be lucky enough to come across excellent Bordeaux, where the prices have not yet skyrocketed. This is precisely the case with this wine from Chateau Marjosse, which year after year reaps prestigious points from the major reviewers, while at the same time the price has managed to maintain the grounded connection. Here you get a truly wonderful glass of red wine with lots of soft, dark fruit, leather and cedar. The wine is full-bodied, round and completely ready to be drunk already, thanks in part to the high proportion of Merlot in the wine (80%). The rest of the wine is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).

FYLDIG & RUND

ABOUT THE WINERY

CHÂTEAU MARJOSSE

Pierre Lurton took over the responsibility of managing Chateau Marjosse in 1990. When he started the property was only 12 hectares, but he later took over another 34 hectares from his father. Since then, significant renovations have been made to the winemaking facilities and new cellars have been built. Most of this work was completed in the year 2000, but the winery was updated again in 2013.Today there are over 50 hectares planted with both red and white grapes. For the white wines, you have 45% Semillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Muscadelle. However, there is also a small plot of Chardonnay. The area with red grapes is planted with 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, in addition to a small plot of old Malbec vines.

Pierre Lurton overtog ansvaret for at lede Chateau Marjosse i 1990.

General grape descriptions

Merlot

Merlot wine has similarities with Cabernet Sauvignon although less intense and with tannins more soft. Its color is purple red, with aromas of blackberries and black plums, complex and elegant, full-bodied, with low acidity. On the palate is smooth and very balanced.
