Dyrehøj Vingaard

RÖS Solaris

WINE 52

MINERAL & BALANCED

The scent of elderflowers with a touch of flint and a good minerality characterizes this classic from Røsnæs. The acidity is prominent but balanced and together with a long aftertaste, it makes the wine perfect as an accompaniment to food.
The grapes from two selected fields were hand-picked and sorted - only the most ripe ones were included in this batch. The must was extra gently pressed by the grapes and the must rested for 24 hours. The clear must was put to fermentation at cold temperature.
The wine is made from organically grown grapes. Grown, vinified and bottled at Dyrehøj Vingaard.

MINERALSK & BALANCERET

ABOUT THE WINERY

DYREHØJ VINGAARD

Dyrehøj Vingaard is located on the sunny Røsnæs near Kalundborg and is Denmark's largest vineyard with over 30,000 vines. The first vines were planted in 2008. The calcareous slopes and the cool climate provide a great basis for growing grapes. In the wine cellar, RÖS is created by the winemaker and the entire team behind the vineyard. The grape varieties in the fields are divided into 6 white wine varieties and 13 different red wine varieties. The climate at Røsnæs is one of the driest and sunniest in Denmark. The Røsnæs peninsula is a mound of clay, sand, gravel and stone, which was pushed up during the last ice age.

General grape descriptions

Solaris

Solaris is a modern cross between Merzling and Geisenheim 6493, created by Norbert Becker in Freiburg in 1975. It is suitable for growing in cool climates as it ripens very early. Solaris is the most important white wine variety in Denmark and fully shows the regional character of Røsnæs.
