Bouchard Père & Fils

Beaune "Clos St. Landry" 1. Cru

Beaune Clos St. Landry is located just south of the main town of Beaune. It is on this vineyard that one finds the first traces of Chardonnay in Beaune. Quite unique as the field is surrounded by pinot noir fields. Landry is 1.98 hectares premier cru, which is 100% monopole, owned only by Bouchard Pere & Fils.

Beaune Clos St. Landry ligger lige syd for hovedbyen Beaune.

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest producers in Burgundy and is the largest vineyard owner in the Cote d'Or. The house owns, among other things 12 acres of Grand Cru, as well as 74 acres of Premier Cru fields. In 1995, Joseph Henriot bought himself into Bouchard Père & Fils, and he invested a lot of money in building a new winery that was completed in 2005. In the 3-story underground building, gravity takes the wine through the various processes of vinification. The modern technology combined with respect for traditions and the old know-how ensure that the many wines of the domain can each express the diverse terroir found in Burgundy. In 2015, Bouchard Père & Fils was certified sustainable in areas that focus on eco-friendly approaches to winemaking.

General grape descriptions

Wine drinkers find it flatteringly easy to enjoy, with its broad, exuberant charms, relatively high alcohol and low acidity, and lack of powerful scent. Vine growers find it easy to grow productively and profitably (it can yield well, ripen usefully early, although buds rather too early for frost-free comfort in cool climates). And winemakers revel in the range of different winemaking techniques to which Chardonnay readily submits: not just a wide range of dry white wines with more weight than most, but delicate sparkling wines and even a few extremely successful sweet white wines made with the benefit of 'noble rot'.
