d'Arenberg

The Custodian

RICH, JUICY & ELEGANT

Owner and winemaker Chester Osborn calls himself the guardian of Grenache after many other winemakers pulled up the old Grenache vines to make room for Cabernet and Merlot. d'Arenberg retained his and hence the name. The aroma is inviting and spicy. The wine is perfectly balanced and harmonious with fruit characteristics of mulberries, blueberries and plums and notes of anise, fennel and coriander. A long and velvety wine.

FYLDIG, SAFTIG & ELEGANT

ABOUT THE WINERY

D'ARENBERG

d'Arenberg was founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, who sold his stable of racing horses and used the money to buy a winery. The most famous horse named Footbolt has named one of the house's best known wines of the same name. Similarly, all of d'Arenberg's wines have a funny history behind their unconventional names. Today, 4th generation Chester Osborn is the owner and winemaker. d'Arenberg is located in McLaren Vale.

General grape descriptions

Grenache

Grenache is an unlikely hero of a grape. Until recently reviled or at best ignored in much of the world, it is the grape chiefly responsible for two of the world's more celebrated reds, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and, a more recent star, Priorat.
