TAPS Winebar

Ritme Celler Blanc

Vinyes Velles

DEEP & RICH

A wine with serious deepness and richness but also light tones with traces of nectarine, lime, peach, flowers and lemongrass. A faint sensation of wax and smoke from the oak barrels. The wine is made from 70% Grenache Blanc and 30% Macabeo from different, high-lying fields. The must from the hand-picked grapes is soaked for two days. 70% ferments in tanks and 30% in small, French oak barrels. The mixed wine is 9 months "sur lie" on the fermentation residues. No clearance or filtration.

DYB & FYLDIG

ABOUT THE WINERY

RITME CELLER

The young Albert Jané grows this wine on the special Licorella earthy dry rock. The yield is extremely small - barely over 20 hl/ha and the vines extremely old - a good deal over 100 years. The wines have gained a great reputation in Spain and are also on the way in other countries. The methods are by nature organic. All work is done by hand both before and after the harvest. The grapes are pressed very gently and get a long fermentation before the wine is gravitated down to malolactic fermentation and storage in barrels of French oak.

Udbyttet er ekstremt lille -næppe over 20 hl/ha, vinstokkene ekstremt gamle -en god del over 100 år.

General grape descriptions

Grenache Blanc

Light-berried Grenache, planted all over southern France and northern Spain, as Garnacha or Garnatxa Blanca, producing full-bodied, sometimes rather flabby wines which can oxidise easily, although careful winemaking can make attractively scented wines for early drinking.

Macabeo

Very common grape in northern Spain and, as Maccabéo or Maccabeu, in the Languedoc and Roussillon. It is known as Viura in Rioja, where it is very much the dominant variety for white wines. Its vaguely floral character develops at full ripeness but it is often picked earlier to retain acidity. As Macabeo it is an important ingredient in Cava.
