Ronan Labordes Château Clinet, one of the most veteran Pomerol wines, is only at 9 hectares, so there is not much wine to sell. His project, launched in 2009, is to make affordable wines that vary as little as possible from vintage to vintage and have classic Bordeaux style. South-west of the Château Clinet is a modern vinification plant, where the wines are made by the Clinet vinification team.
This wine is made from 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon. The rank and acidity of the main grape is complemented by the rounder, wider Sémillon; a proven and successful marriage.

Hans projekt, der blev søsat i 2009, går ud på at lave vine, der er til at betale, der varierer så lidt som muligt fra årgang til årgang og som har klassisk Bordeauxstil. Sydvest for Château Clinet er bygget et moderne vinifikationsanlæg, hvor vinene laves af vinifikationsteamet fra Clinet.

Denne vin er lavet på 80% Sauvignon Blanc og 20% Sémillon. Rankheden og syren i hoveddruen komplementeres af den rundere, bredere Sémillon; et gennemprøvet og succesfuldt ægteskab.

General grape descriptions



Sauvignon Blanc


Often called simply Sauvignon, extremely popular variety making crisp, dry, aromatic and extremely distinctive wines all over the world. The smell is sharp and piercing and reminds different tasters variously of gooseberries, nettles, crushed blackcurrant leaves, and occasionally cat’s pee. With age, aromas reminiscent of canned asparagus can develop.

Most Sauvignon Blanc is fermented at relatively low temperatures in stainless steel with the intention of preserving every bit of youthful fruit. The wines are in general designed to be drunk as young as possible, although some of the fruit from particularly low-yielding vineyards can be concentrated to withstand oak ageing and may need a year or so in bottle before showing their best.


Semillon


Semillon’s homeland is undoubtedly south-west France, not just Bordeaux but the many surrounding wine regions such as Bergerac. It is an ingredient with Sauvignon Blanc, both major and minor, in both basic Bordeaux Blanc and the great, dry, oaked whites of Graves and Pessac-Léognan.

Semillon is not difficult to grow. In fact, unless its yield is decimated by botrytis, it is naturally quite productive, and its characteristic bright green leaves earned it the title ‘green grape’ for many years in South Africa where it was by far the most planted grape variety in the early 19th century – so much so that then it was actually just called ‘the wine grape’. It is now only the fifth most planted white wine grape but South Africa still producers a wide range of varietal dry Semillons as well some dessert wines.
